At the Richard Barnes Academy, we are committed to ensuring that careers and aspirations are embedded throughout all aspects of school life. The Richard Barnes Academy is devoted to ensuring that all learners have an appropriate and sustainable post-16 destination that is tracked and supported.
Understanding pupil's career choices and aspirations is paramount to a pupils success at school, and also in preparing them for their future lives.
Learners at the Richard Barnes Academy are encouraged to explore a wide range of career choices through our information and guidance programme. We aim to prepare our pupils for future opportunities in the world of study, and ultimately, in their working life. Through our programme, pupils gain knowledge and develop skills in employability awareness.
Alumni of the Richard Barnes Academy have gone on to pursue a wide variety of Post-16 options, including:
- Foundation courses at university
- Joining the Armed Forces
- Apprenticeships
- Sixth form study
- College courses
- Internships and jobs with training.
To reflect the changes and the labour market needs of Peterborough, we are continually reviewing our options programme at KS4 to include more vocational courses in partnership with Peterborough College. Examples of this can be seen in the following courses:
- Construction and CSCS
- Land based studies
At the Richard Barnes Academy, we respond to the unique needs of each individual learner by operating separate arrangements for each of our two campuses.
